Waterproof UHF RFID Tags & Stickers

Our waterproof UHF RFID tags help you identify assets exposed to humidity, splashes and rain. They use EPC Class 1 Gen 2 (ISO/IEC 18000-63, formerly ISO/IEC 18000-6C), with NXP UCODE 8, NXP UCODE 9 or Impinj MR6-P chips depending on the product configuration. Water resistance and compatibility with the mounting surface are separate requirements.

Which Waterproof UHF RFID Tags Should I Use for Outdoor Asset Tracking?

If your assets will get wet, start with the surface you're labeling and the kind of water exposure you expect.

For a Smaller Non-Metal Surface: PET4015 measures 43 × 18 mm and has a reference read range of 6 m, depending on your reader and environment.
For a Larger Non-Metal Surface: PET7018 measures 73 × 21 mm and has a reference read range of 12 m, depending on your reader and environment.
For Metal Assets: Look at PF6025 or PF7030. These use an on-metal design; a waterproof PET label alone doesn't solve the reading problems that metal can cause.

Are All RFID Tags Waterproof?

No, not every RFID tag is waterproof. We offer waterproof constructions in this collection, but a paper label or adhesive wet inlay shouldn't be treated as water-resistant just because it contains an RFID chip. Tell us how the item gets wet so we can help you check the right requirements.

Does a Waterproof UHF RFID Tag Guarantee Underwater Reading?

No, a waterproof tag doesn't guarantee that you'll be able to read it underwater. Protecting the chip from water and getting a UHF signal through water are different challenges. If your tag will be submerged or placed next to liquid, we'd want to check that exact setup with you.

Can I Use Waterproof RFID Stickers on Metal?

Yes, you can use a waterproof sticker with an on-metal design, such as our PF6025 or PF7030. For a metal asset, we'd start with those options. Waterproof PET construction on its own doesn't make a label suitable for direct metal mounting.

Should I Check More Than Waterproofing for Outdoor Asset Tracking?

Yes, outdoor use needs a few checks beyond waterproofing.

Regular waterproof UHF tags may not withstand:

Chemicals or corrosive agents
Severe scratching or other harsh conditions
Extreme temperatures

Does Waterproofing Alone Make an RFID Tag Suitable for Laundry?

No, waterproofing alone doesn't make a tag suitable for laundry. Hot washing, detergent, repeated cycles and attachment to fabric all need to be checked. We haven't qualified this collection as a laundry-tag range, so please share your washing process before choosing a tag for that job.
